Job Summary: The team leader is an experienced Family Support with demonstrated knowledge and competence in at least one area of agency programs or services.  The team leader facilitates goal setting, planning, and implementation of team responsibilities.  The team leader is responsible for building and maintaining team cohesion.  The team leader assigns cases and supervises Family Support Partners and oversees day to day activities of team and conducts annual performance evaluations. The position requires the ability to be responsive to team members while maintaining the big picture of the organization.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assigns cases and supervises direct service staff (FSP, volunteers), oversees day to day activities of the team, goal setting and attainment, and performs annual performance evaluations.
  2. Maintains a partial caseload of clients providing trauma informed services, completing necessary documentation and meeting individual case goals.
  3. Facilitates team meetings, team group supervision, professional development and individual staff supervision.
  4. Participates in the hiring, training and orientation of new staff, interns, and volunteers.
  5. Ensures accurate and timely collection and reporting of data from team to contract specification.
  6. Reviews and signs off on time sheets, mileage sheets and vacation requests.
  7. Reviews and monitors case files for accuracy and contract compliance. Also monitors the quality of services and coordinates the team efforts for quality improvement.
  8. Shares responsibility for program development based on the overall vision of the agency.
  9. Attends and participates in monthly Extended Program Management team meetings as required.
  10. Participates in community, group and/or service collaborations as appropriate.
  11. Identifies training needs of team members.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:  A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education and/or related human services field. Demonstrated experience in in-home, family-based services and/or commensurate experience may qualify.  Specialized training/expertise in area relevant to position. Experience providing case management services to low income, multi-problem families required.  Knowledge:  community resources.  Abilities:  Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive to community and individual family needs.  Must be a team player and be able to work independently.  Must have the ability to create team cohesion and empower individuals; must be mission focused. Skills:  Supervision experience preferred. Computer literate as appropriate.  Bilingual in Spanish or Arabic preferred.   Effective communication and leadership skills are required. Other Requirements: Must have a valid California driver’s license, insurance and a reliable vehicle and be willing to use it on the job.  Must be able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting for long periods of time in the office or at required meetings.
  • Daily traveling in car to clients or to agency worksites and community meetings.
  • Routinely required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Frequent note taking, recording in case files by hand, and data entry.

 

Work Environment:

  • Office space is shared.
  • The noise level fluctuates from quiet to noisy.
