Job Description

 

Home Start, founded in 1972, is a non-profit agency dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and strengthening families.  We are currently looking for an experienced individual to oversee the day-to-day operations of our candle making Social Enterprise.  This position will be responsible for designing and overseeing the childcare portion of the program which will utilize interns and volunteers to provide on-site childcare services, with a strong child development focus, to our social enterprise participants. The position will also be responsible for training and supervising staff in the production of scented candles to be sold in Home Start's Thrift Boutique, on-line, at events, and in community shops.

Skills / Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in child development, social work, or business with prior experience in childhood development, production, marketing, and small business management preferred. Experience working with vulnerable populations, children, providing trauma-informed care, and coordinating staff and volunteers. Excellent customer service skills, case management, communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Must be a team player with demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate in dealing with others and be patient, innovative, energetic, enthusiastic, and outgoing.   Must have a valid California Driver’s License, automobile insurance and reliable vehicle and be willing to use it on the job.
